Wellington-born Xframe wins another big Australian bank contract

Kiwi modular building firm Xframe has won a massive contract to roll-out its unique internal construction system for the Commonwealth Bank in Australia. Xframe founder Ged Finch said the order was for the supply of its ATM wall cladding system in about 650 branches over 18 months, or about a branch a day.

The order, which has started rolling out, has “brought us to the next level of scale”, Finch said. “Typically, these types of wall systems would be all manufactured out of metal and aluminium finishes. And as you can imagine, it’s just so carbon-intensive to both produce and maintain,” he said.

CBA chose Xframe because its system was made entirely of wood, and is reusable and reconfigurable.

Xframe’s first big break came from ANZ in 2022. “We were fresh out of raising some capital and very early. We didn’t really have a market-ready product, but they had a problem. They needed to create a retail branch that could change with their needs.”
