Wade Sawmill continues to expand with Gibson sawmill equipment

We recently visited the team at Wade Sawmill to review their ongoing expansion and improvements of their sawmill machinery and equipment plant based just north of Maryborough Queensland.

Wade Sawmill manufactures a large range of timber products to cater for all applications in the outdoor timber industry which come in a variety of sizes, and also offering custom made size orders.

The founders, Robin and Marian Wade, purchased their first sawmill licence in 1981 and Robin has been in the timber industry since 1966.

The Wade Sawmill journey started with hardwood railway sleepers and then later branched out to include hardwood landscape sleepers, and now also offers landscape sleepers and fencing.

The team at Wade Sawmill built a new mill in 1984 to enable them to cut sawn hardwood and fencing timbers. These two new products proved very popular and they had an increased demand from their customers.

Wade Sawmill again outgrew their surroundings, and then built a new mill at their present site in 1989. To keep up with demand and cater for their customer’s needs, a CCA treatment plant was then installed.

The Wade Domestic Product Range for home and garden includes, fencing timbers, fencing palings, rails, posts and sleepers, as well as the Wade Tru-Log.

In 2010 a major upgrade was untaken comprising of a weigh bridge, a state of the art computerised treatment system and a docking and stacking system for the pine mill. In 2012 they added a pine debarker and an automatic docking system to help keep up with the demand.

In 2020, Wade Sawmill invested in a pine log rounding plant which was built in Maryborough to replace the outdated machinery in Gympie.

Wade Sawmill is proud to support the local Maryborough and Queensland populations with millions of dollars injected into the economy each year through preferential local hiring practices and donations. They employ over 30 full time workers, helping support locals and their families.

At three generations now, the Wade family is part of the community and is proud to support the area they belong to in north Queensland.

From humble beginnings the Wade Sawmill has grown over the years and become one of the area’s most efficient and progressive mills, with a focus on sustainability using every bit of pine or timber ensuring nothing goes to waste.
