WoodTECH News Summary – April 2024

This month we cover several key developments. CarbonScape, a Blenheim-based company, is pioneering the conversion of wood chips into graphite for EV batteries, the Australian Government’s A$100 million Australian Forest and Wood Innovations program has been launched, NZ’s ACC is investing NZ$22 million in workplace injury prevention grants targeting the manufacturing sector and a Fonterra site becomes the Co-op’s first to run on 100% renewable thermal energy from wood biomass.

Meanwhile, the Hyne Group expands into pallet manufacturing, a new report suggests that Northland (NZ) could meet up to 99% of its energy needs through biomass, and there are concerns after a cut in funding for NZ forestry industry safety initiatives.
