HarvestTECH News Summary – April 2024

This month we cover a range of industry developments. Firstly, Pacifica Shipping has introduced battery swap e-trucks that aim to significantly reduce carbon emissions, Stora Enso’s expansion of the Harvesting Partner concept and the A$100 million Australian Forest and Wood Innovations program.

Many within the Australian industry will be aware of the recent negative press around the closure of VicForests on 30 June this year. Forestry Australia responded by highlighting the misinformation being promoted and emphasising the importance of respecting forest scientists and professionals and the valuable work they contribute. In New Zealand, the Forestry Industry Safety Council has raised concerns about funding cuts to national safety initiatives.

In addition, there are articles this week on next-gen heavy-duty truck charging systems, Fennell Forestry’s electric log truck trial, HVMS’s efforts to drive decarbonisation in New Zealand and Windrose’s completion of a 1500km road test for its all-electric semi-truck.

Don’t forget that Wood Transport 2024 is just over a month away. Click here for details on the programme, workshops, speakers and registrations.
